It’s time to take your gaming talents to the next level and study Esports! You’ll develop skills in basic gaming build, get a taste of your career possibilities and bring your passion for Esports to life.

Our goal is to help you gain real world insight as you develop your Esports skills in a fun, and supportive environment.

This unique programme will guide you in the right direction and help future proof your career in the Esports industry. You’ll develop coaching techniques, build basic game design using gaming software platforms such as Unreal Engine, explore business concepts and learn how you can earn income doing something you love.

Campus based learning: It's time to make your mark in this exciting industry while learning in our purpose-built gaming studio. You’ll get to join forces with your classmates, set-up and run local gaming tournaments, collaborate and battle it out as you work on mastering your gaming style with the support of online resources as you improve your skills. 

At the end of your course, you’ll be inspired to transform your love of gaming into a career as you decide your next step. With plenty of career options to choose from, you can explore your study options in animation, game development, creative media and marketing with our sister school Yoobee College of Creative Innovation or even personal training to help gamers perform at their peak.

During this course you will learn:

  • Learn how to set up and run local gaming tournaments.

  • Tour local internet cafés and Esport arenas to see how they run.

  • Learn individual and team coaching techniques for gaming.

  • Explore a range of career options for you in the Esport industry.

  • Develop basic game design with a range of gaming software.

  • Learn how to incorporate Te Ao Māori into the virtual gaming world.

  • Turn a gaming idea into a successful business proposal.

  • Gain qualifications to take you to the next level for further studies.

  • Successful completion of NZMA Introduction to Esport programme (or equivalent level of foundational understanding of the Esport industry and NCEA level 1 or equivalent)

  • English Language /International Applicants: General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 OR equivalent under Rule 18.

  • Domestic applicants with English as a second language: must demonstrate sufficiency in English language at interview.
