Fast track your career in Personal Training with our flexible course options! You can study full-time, part-time, or online and develop your health and fitness skills your way.  

This course will improve your knowledge of exercise science by teaching you how to create workouts that are safe, effective, and enjoyable. You'll learn how to work with a range of clients, including those with specialised training needs, and gain insights to excel in the constantly changing fitness industry. 

You’ll also have the unique opportunity to look at exclusive opportunities with Club Med and a variety of resorts in the USA, such as Big Cedar Resort in Missouri and in some of New Zealand’s ultimate gyms. 

You‘ll gain hands-on experience in our onsite gyms and with small class sizes, you’ll have more one-on-one time with your tutor and opportunities to learn with your peers.  

If you’re looking for online learning to give you the flexibility to learn anytime, anywhere, and at your own pace. Our online study option will provide you with the tools you need to succeed, all you need is to have access to a gym for the duration of your course. 

During this course you will:

  • Expand your knowledge in exercise science and nutrition  

  • Design industry-standard programs to boost performance with advanced techniques 

  • Create personalise exercise prescriptions with proper nutrition referrals and follow-up actions 

  • Use science-based techniques to personalise exercise programs and assessments 

  • Learn to train clients with special needs or complex issues with health and fitness 

  • Collaborate with other professionals to help clients achieve their exercise goals

Ākonga must:  

  • Completed NZ Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.  

International Students must:  

  • Be at least 18 years of age on day 1 of the course  

  • Completed NZ Certificate in Exercise (Level 4), and  

  • IELTS 5.5 Academic with no band below 5.0 or TOEFL 550 (PBT), 60(IBT) or NZQA-approved equivalent  

For practical assessments requiring observation NZMA will require online students to:  

  • Either attend practical assessments on campus, or  

  • Use video evidence 

Students who enrol in the online programme will also need:   

  • Access to a gym for the duration of your studies to allow for your own personal physical training and practice using the equipment. 

  • Have access to a computer, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
