Foundation Skills in Esports (Level 2)

In this FREE foundation course, you’ll grow your confidence, leadership and problem-solving skills while studying something you really enjoy - gaming! Get a taste of how this huge industry works and how you could be a part of it. 

Imagine learning through gaming! Build your confidence and skills while studying something you really love.

You'll learn about the size and scope of the competitive gaming industry, volunteer at a real esports tournament, work on a group project, create your own practice tournament and play on some of the hottest gaming gear out there. You'll have loads of fun and get to study with people just like you.

We’ll get you out of the classroom to see some pathway options at our sister school, Yoobee College of Creative Innovation, and you’ll get to meet our Level 3 esports class to see how they do things

After completing this course, you can keep learning more about the epic world of gaming in our Level 3 Introduction to Esports course.

Plus, if you are aged 16-24, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE!

  • Aged at least 16 years old before the start of the course.*

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency 

*15 year olds who hold Ministry-approved early exemption from their school may also be eligible. This exemption must be in place before the course starts.


You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-24 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme.  Under the Youth Guarantee you may also be eligible for financial support to cover the following.
