Noah first heard about New Zealand Institute of Sport through a group of friends who had enrolled. At the time, he was uncertain about what Year 13 might look like for him. But one thing was clear: he loved sports - especially football, which he's been playing since the age of four.
Teamwork has always come naturally to Noah. Growing up in a large family and playing team sports all his life has made him feel most comfortable when he’s part of a group. At NZIS, he’s not only training with others who share his passion but also forming strong friendships.
“I've really enjoyed it and made a lot of friends… I love being in a team. I've never played non-team sports, so yeah, being in a team just works for me.”
Noah also appreciates the freedom to train on his own when he needs to focus—particularly in the gym. However, when it comes to football, being with others is where he thrives.
What stood out most to Noah about his experience at NZIS was the realisation of how much opportunity the qualifications could provide. He’s particularly excited about the potential to move into Sport and Recreation, especially in a coaching role.
Noah credits much of his positive experience to the tutors at NZIS, describing them as not only highly skilled but also genuinely supportive and approachable.
With his eyes on a future in Sport and Recreation and a love for coaching, Noah is building a strong foundation at NZIS. His journey is just beginning - but thanks to the supportive tutors, classmates and practical learning, he’s on the path to turning his lifelong passion into a fulfilling career.
