If you’re looking to continue further studies to help you prepare for the NZ Police or Uniformed Services, then this course is for you. Our Level 4 certificate will help you grow your confidence, broaden your employment pathways and strengthen your passion to take you to the next level.

 

Want to join an industry that has endless and exciting opportunities? Our Police and Uniformed Services course will set you up towards a career in the Police, Fire and Emergency, Private Security, the NZ Defence Force and many more.   

We'll help you develop your team working and problem-solving skills while participating in adventurous activities. You’ll be training in our on-campus gyms working hard to improve your fitness and ability through advanced physical training with our industry-experienced tutors.  

We’ll also prepare your mental fitness to boost your confidence learning skills such as public speaking, debating skills, time management, report writing, build verbal and written confidence in Te Reo Māori, and more.  

During this course you will:

  • Learn risk management, conflict resolution and safety  

  • Get exposure to all fitness requirements  

  • Understand personal and staff safety, team building and leadership development  

  • Develop career plans, interview skills, career expectations, meet with guest speakers   

  • Learn cultural competency and evaluating support intervention programmes 

  • Explore social and environmental influences of antisocial behaviour  

  • Engage with community groups

Entry is open to domestic students only, based on the following criteria: 

  • Completed a relevant Pre-Police or Uniformed Services related Level 3 qualification, or

  • Achieved NCEA level 3 in school or equivalent 

  • NZMA will interview the student to determine they are a fit and proper person for a police or uniformed services sector employment pathway. Any previous criminal or traffic convictions must be disclosed prior to enrolment.

  • Students will need to be physically capable of participating in exercise sessions that include running, resistance training, and other fitness activities.

  • Domestic students with ESOL: must be proficient in English language.
