Suzanne O'Brien – General Manager

Suzanne became General Manager of the New Zealand Institute of Sport in July 2018. She entered into the current role with an in-depth understanding of the quality and regulatory standards that pertains to Private Tertiary Education, as Suzanne had originally joined the over-arching Academic Colleges Group (ACG) as the Human Resource Manager for the NZMA Division, Finance and Investment. 

Suzanne has a huge passion for sport, holistic health and wellbeing practices, which she has successfully weaved into her career by leading a number of significant wellbeing initiatives within her previous positions across countries such as New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. Suzanne has a wealth of knowledge and back-ground experience across multiple sectors that successfully lead and implement company-wide change. Therefore, Suzanne brings a commercial and operational acumen to address challenges and build opportunities that are available to drive sustained growth for the New Zealand Institute of Sport.

Nick Burrows: Regional Manager – Southern

Nick started working for the NZ Institute of Sport in 2005 as an exercise prescription tutor on his return from 10 years in the United States, and has been the Christchurch site manager since 2006. In 2012 he took over site leadership of the NZ College of massage upon their integration into the NZ Institute of Sport family of private tertiary establishments. 

Prior to working at the NZ Institute of Sport Nick spend 6 years completing bachelors and master’s degrees in the US, then went on to work as clinical exercise physiologist in phase 1 and 2 cardiac rehabilitation. However with a passion for high performance sport Nick switched focus and worked with both collegiate and professional athletes in various sports. He is a certified exercise physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Nick brings the latest exercise science and conditioning knowledge and principles to ensure that students are receiving high quality academic and practical information. Nick was involved in athletics where he was a multiple NZ champion, US collegiate champion, and has represented NZ.

Andreas Kasoulides: Regional Manager – Central

Andreas joined NZIS in 2002 as an enthusiastic IT graduate with an opportunity to administer the Institute's computer network and corporate website. Passionate about what NZIS represents, Andreas enjoyed teaching students about tech while leading projects related to IT, marketing & recruitment and business support.

Andreas now maintains responsibility for the Wellington campus to ensure the central region is providing exciting opportunities for students geared up for a career in health, sport, recreation and exercise.
