Taulalo Fiso – Group Director
The importance of providing valuable educational and sport performance opportunities was a motivating force in the development of NZIS. Established in 1996 starting with 18 students based in Porirua, and now almost twenty years later NZIS is now a multi site provider in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The NZIS Group also includes the New Zealand College of Massage, both are a category 1 provider with a combined student population of almost 1000 learners.
The NZIS Group vision is every learner can learn, and it is our expectation to encourage levels of excellence in students and athletes at NZIS to perform at their best and provide them with a number of opportunities to succeed. The “added value” approach to education and experiences such as the international sports tours, sports exchange and overseas employment opportunities have also been a driving force.
Taulalo joined the organisation following over twenty years in education and in the public sector, after several years working as a tier 3 Manager for ACC following key Pacific posts with the Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Commission.

Nick Burrow – Senior Manager Operations
Nick started working for the NZ Institute of Sport in 2005 as an exercise prescription tutor on his return from 10 years in the United States, and has been the Christchurch site manager since 2006. In 2012 he took over site leadership of the NZ College of massage upon their integration into the NZ Institute of Sport family of private tertiary establishments.

Andreas Kasoulides – Senior Manager Quality Assurance and Systems
Andreas joined NZIS in 2002 as a graduate webmaster, systems administrator and IT tutor when the Institute was a mere two sites in Wellington and Christchurch. Since then, Andreas has been an integral part of the Institute’s nationwide growth and has successfully led multiple head office projects in IT, web and marketing as well as maintaining co-curricular activities with students. Andreas enjoys engaging with students to apply technology to sport, improve their technical skills and achieve their career goals through the NZIS programmes.
As the NZIS Group’s Quality Assurance and Systems Manager, Andreas oversees the organisations policies and procedures and support systems to enable strong graduate outcomes and successful business operation. Andreas focuses on compliance, student administration, self-assessment, eLearning and information technology for both the New Zealand Institute of Sport and New Zealand College of Massage.
Since 2012, Andreas has led the NZIS Wellington site as Site Supervisor focusing on achieving academic excellence and operationalising the values and objectives of NZIS through his leadership of the head office campus.

Dr. David Lillis – Senior Academic Manager (Research and Statistics)
Previous to joining the team at NZIS, David was a senior statistician at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. A former secondary school teacher David has also worked as a Senior Research Evaluator for the Foundation of Research, Science and Technology and has spent over 25 years in the research field. David was born in Dublin, Ireland, and enjoys soccer and rugby, chess, and track and field athletics. He has a particular interest in education research, especially in programmes that require quantitative methods.
Specialist Areas: Statistics, Research Methods and Numeracy.

Brett Thomson - Group Business Performance Manager
Brett joined the organisation in 2017 bringing a passion for business performance with a core focus on business development, analytical capability and innovative culture. He brings a passion for transparency and collaboration which will continue to ensure the growth and sustainability of the organisation, ensuring we bring the best value to our students.
As a Chartered Accountant in previous positions he has had the opportunity to obtain and share a breadth of experience from many industry sectors and organisations in New Zealand and Switzerland.

Brett is passionate about sport, having represented New Zealand in the AG World Long Distance Triathlon Championship in Oklahoma (USA) and AG World Standard Distance Triathlon Championship in Cozumel (Mexico) in 2016, as well as enjoying a range of other indoor and outdoor sports.
