Ben Brown - Diploma in Sport Management and Exercise Prescription Leader
Right from the start of my tertiary education journey, I had the goal of becoming a strength and conditioning coach. In 2012 I achieved that goal and started putting in the hours, coaching as many athletes as I could. After coaching athletes from a range of sports I decided to develop myself as an Individual and coach by joining the NZ Army. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to see how real military conditioning looked like and how I could tailor that style for training athletes outside the army. One thing the army certainly taught me is that, respect is earned by working hard in any physical training session. Apart from my huge passion for strength and conditioning, the mountains are my biggest influence and passion. Nothing brings me more pleasure than spending a week deep in the southern alps pitting myself against nature. Climbing Mt Aspiring and Mitre Peak (Milford Sound) are some of my more notable adventures but anything that requires a high level of physical endurance and mental toughness I'm up for, every time. One thing that every strength and conditioning coach must do is put their own body through tough times so when they put an athlete through their paces they know exactly what it feels like. "Train hard, fight easy"!
