Students are involved in a large number of events throughout the year, either as part of their study or as part of experiential learning. NZIS students have been instrumental in organizing the National Secondary School and Club Volleyball Championships, the Regional and National Secondary School Aerobics Championships, their own ‘Clash of the Codes', the NZ Super Games, the NZIS Celebrity Golf Tournament, as well as assisting with Fight for Life.

These opportunities are provided for students to gain invaluable experience at the ‘coal face' of the sport industry. These often lead to jobs directly from the work placement.

Work experience opportunities and placements take place within a variety of organizations such as; Regional Sports Bodies, Trusts and Organizations, fitness, leisure, and recreation centres, schools and gymnasiums. Students are encouraged to apply their new skills from the classroom in a practical context and gain experience on the job at the same time.
