NZIS Diploma in Sport (Advanced Sport Management)
Programme Objectives
The NZIS Diploma in Sport (Advanced Sport Management) is a full-time, Level 6 tertiary qualification. Students enter after the successful completion of their NZIS Diploma in Sport Management and Exercise Prescription or can qualify through the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) system.
Sport Management students are able to practically apply what they learn during the year through the organisation of large commercial and non-profit events to gain valuable experience. Their event management skills are developed and improved through direct involvement in the planning and implementation of major multi-faceted events.
Graduates in Sport Management will finish the Diploma with transferable business skills in marketing, management, coaching and administration.
Diploma graduates are suited for employment in a wide range of sporting organisations including Regional Sports Trusts, sport facilities, sport clubs and societies and other commercial sport businesses.

Work Placements
Students will be able to complete work placements throughout the year of study. Opportunities are provided for students to gain valuable experience at the ‘coal face’ of the sports industry. Graduate students from the Diploma level also have international work placement opportunities in Australia and the UK. Many NZIS Diploma students have also been successful in gaining employment in activity centres in the UK upon completion of their course of study.
Entry Criteria
- Successful completion of first year of study at NZIS
- Relevant qualifications from other institutions through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process
- Students who fall outside of the academic category many still be considered upon a personal interview
- Relevant Experience – Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)
- International students must have an IELTS equivalent of 5.5 or higher
Fees Schedule
- Tuition fees: $4765.00 (incl GST)
- Course Related Costs: $1010.00 (incl GST) – Discounted rate if paid prior to or on enrolment day.
