You can open our door to a career in sport from any level. If you don’t have any qualifications, and not sure where to start, a Foundation programme will suit you. If you’re more experienced, and have some runs on the board Level 3 and 4 will set you on a path. More experience again and direction, then try Level 5 and 6 leading to further tertiary study to tick your boxes.
NZIS is a NZQA accredited provider of sports trainer and sports management tertiary education, personal training programmes and other vocational sporting pathways.
Our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch sites each offer a broad range of qualifications relevant to the Sport, Fitness and Recreation industry along with experienced, knowledgeable teaching staff.
From full tertiary qualifications and industry-based courses, to Foundation programmes – NZIS is opening doors for our graduates and enhancing career opportunities.
Tertiary Programmes and degree optionsOur Tertiary programmes are designed to cover a wide range of vocational skills and education required for diverse pathways in the Sport, Fitness and Recreation industry.
Our Diploma Level 5 programme, the NZIS Diploma in Sport Management and Exercise Prescription, ensures that students have explored all aspects of the industry in preparation for higher-level Diploma and Degree studies. After successfully graduating from this NCEA Level 5 programme, students can choose to go on to higher learning and go either in the direction of Advanced Sport Management or Advanced Exercise Prescription. After finishing one of these Level 6 programmes, students will be well equipped to start their career in the Sport, Fitness and Recreation industry.
Students aged 16-19 years can take advantage of our Fess Free pathways to enrol in vocational education and training, like one of our personal trainer programmes.
NZIS offers two degree pathways in conjunction with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (OPNZ). You can find out more about this here.
