Programme Objectives

The NZ Institute of Sport has developed a great easy-to-understand IT course where students can learn the fundamental skills for basic computing. The course includes basic operation of a PC and also teaches students how to use the most common and most popular programs; Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Whether it is for work or leisure, this course is designed to suit the needs of many different individuals and groups:

Those transferring from one job to another and who need up-skilling.
School leavers that are yet to enter the workforce and need a basic IT qualification.
Those currently working but would like to up-skill outside of work hours.
Sport clubs, organizations or PTs for use in their business.
Those who have simply decided it is finally time to get IT literate.

Key Components

How to operate a Computer

This course will teach the basics of operating a word processor as well as how to operate and maintain a personal computer. Participants will also be able to learn ways to manage and protect their data.

Create Computer Spreadsheets

Learning how to utilize computer spreadsheets is the key skill in this course. Participants will be able to create formulas and calculations which will help in everyday functions such as calculating budgets, completing cash flows and organizing financial data.

Create Computer Word Documents

Participants in this course will be able to improve and update skills in creating word documents. Information will be produced using word processing functions and business documents will also be produced.

Create Computer Word Documents

This course will show participants how to customize software and how to manipulate and integrate text images. File management processes will also be refined.

Creating Computer Presentations:

Participants will be able to enhance presentation skills by learning to use the Powerpoint function on their computer. This will enable them to improve their communication skills through this medium.

Communication Skills and Reporting

Skills taught in all the above courses will be utilized by the participants to improve their communication and reporting skills. They will be able to produce and present a presentation orally and be able to gain information in an interactive situation.
