Graham Lowe Certificate in Foundation Skills
Love sport, but not too sure where to start? Want some direction?
Start with this programme...
Legendary rugby league player Graham Lowe has developed a common-sense Foundation Skills course which covers sport, recreation and fitness. Considered a game-changer with engaging, relevant and fun classes, the course aims to change people’s lives through education and sport.
Graham Lowe has developed ‘Twelve Dynamic Principles’ which are common-sense philosophies that Graham has used throughout his own career, and ones which he says can be applied in all areas of life for personal success.
Over 18 weeks, students will have access to first class training facilities, high level coaches, educators and athletic performance specialists. And importantly it’s a taste of what you can do in the sport and recreation industry.
This new partnership between NZIS and The Lowie Foundation, an independent New Zealand charity founded by Graham Lowe, will deliver its unique, ‘Kick for the Seagulls’ program based on Graham Lowe’s ‘Twelve Dynamic Principles’ to sports mad students across NZIS’s Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch campuses.
The programme is modular, consisting of four modules:
- Literacy Skills
- Numeracy Skills
- Intro to Sport and Recreation
- Life Skills
Job Opportunities & Pathways
On successful completion of this programme, students will be able to progress to further study within the NZIS educational pathway, by completing our full Level 2 SportsZone program, or our Level 3 Certificate in Sport Studies. The foundation skills learnt through our Level 2 and Level 3 programmes of study will then fully prepare students for tertiary study in one of our very popular Diploma in Sport programmes.
Students will also be able to contribute effectively within their whānau and wider community, and work under general supervision in some entry-level roles including, but not limited to, those within the sport, recreation and fitness sectors.
